Hello I'm Catherine Fortey, an illustrator who left the low-lying expanse of the Midlands to make a home in the rolling hills and moors of Yorkshire, UK.  I took an alternate route to illustration, studying Literature, Psychology, Sociology and Philosophy at degree level, and later a PGCert in Early Years Education. Art is always there, at the very backbone of everything I do.

I've completed numerous online courses and residencies including Make Art That Sells, The Goodship Illustration, Deborah Stein's Storycamp Disco, and I was a Picturehooks Buddy Scheme artist, mentored by Chris Mould, in 2022/23.

 

I am currently a mentee on the new Pathways Into Children's Publishing programme.
